250 YEARS OF FAITH, WORSHIP & LOVE

The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist celebrated its 250^th anniversary in 2005.

Hard to believe but the churches’ 250^th birthday has come and past. Even though all of the events are over, be on the lookout in the first few months of 2006 for some great items to commemorate our 250^th anniversary.

The fifth and final timeline panel is now proudly displayed in our parish hall. Please take time to review all of the timelines from start to finish to see all of the things that have happened in the past 250 years in the world, our country and our York community.

Every Sunday during the year, the History Committee published an insert in the bulletin, entitled "Highlights of Our History." When the 250th History Committee began researching and writing the Sunday history inserts in January, they all expressed some concern that it would be challenging to find 52 topics to fill a year's worth of Sunday bulletins. Instead, they found that St. John's history is so extensive and fascinating that they could write many, many more.  They hope you have enjoyed them.  The committee is presently at work compiling the inserts into book form, which will be ready early this year.

At the various 250^th anniversary events during the year, you saw Austin Hunt taking photographs and video. You also submitted photographs to Austin that you took at events, committee meetings, etc. Austin will be compiling many of these photos & video into a CD slide show and DVD movies. Look for them early this year.
