Announcements

Grocery and gift cards are available after both Sunday services.  Thanks to all who support this effort to provide additional funds for outreach ministries.  A portion of the money you spend to purchase a gift card is returned to the parish.

Mite Boxes were distributed to our children the first Sunday in Lent.  The Mite Box Offering is part of our Easter observance.  Money raised is used to support Episcopal Relief and Development or a similar ministry in the world.  The Golden Egg Award goes to the person with the heaviest Mite Box.  If you did not receive a Mite Box and would like one, please contact Rev. Martie.

Time to begin to plan for the Easter Luncheon.  Elaine Lovelace and Sherrie Rotell have agreed to help us organize ourselves to feed emergency service personnel, the homeless, those who live alone, those in shelters and anyone who needs an Easter luncheon.  We need shoppers, cooks, carvers, servers, volunteers to order and pick up the cake, set up volunteers on Saturday, clean up volunteers on Easter, persons to package meals for emergency service personnel and publicists.  We need donations of hams, plastic eggs and candy to fill plastic eggs.  We need donations to purchase the food; checks may be made payable to the Rector's Discretionary Fund for this purpose.  Please contact the church office and tell us how you can help or email secretary@stjohnyork.org

The Southern Convocation is hosting the 140th Annual Diocesan Convention at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. June 11 to 13.  Volunteers are needed April 14 at the Diocesan Center to prepare material for Convention.  Volunteers will work from 9:30 AM to early afternoon with lunch provided.  Volunteers are needed to work similar hours June 2 to prepare final materials for Convention.  During Convention volunteers are needed to work at the registration table, act as hosts, gatekeepers and tellers.  Choir members, acolytes and ushers will be needed for the Saturday service.  Call Bob and Dee Bishop 717 672-0706 or call the Parish Office for details.

The Vestry is reviewing the mission and vision statement for our parish.  Many of you received a survey online asking for your input with regard to several facets of our ministry.  Please fill out the survey, it only takes a few minutes.  The Vestry will soon make hard copies for those who do not have email or did not get the survey.  This is one way of making your wishes known to the Vestry.  Thanks to the 50 or so who have so far completed the survey.

The Freezers are empty!  Thanks to all who worked so hard on the Freezer Sale and to those who supported this effort.  The Committee in January turned over $8000 to the Vestry to continue our support of a number of outreach ministries.

Connections on Friday, March 26 will concentrate on making palm crosses.  After enjoying a supper together we make palm crosses for area nursing homes and our own use.  Please mark your calendar and plan to join us at 6 PM in the Parish Hall.  Connections is for everyone.  The main dish and beverages are provided.  Participants are asked to bring a salad side dish or bread to share. We guarantee a good time.  Lessons will be available for those of us who never made a palm cross or those of us who forget from year to year.

Sign up sheets are on the bulletin boards for palm cross making on Thursday, March 25 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall.  This group gets us started on the road to making over 2000 palm crosses.  Ann Kordenbrock is leading this group and welcomes your participation.  Please sign up if you plan to attend.

Did you get a copy of the first Stewardship quarterly report?  Copies are available on the table at the front of the church.

Hope to see you Sunday in church!
