Announcements
Grocery and Gift cards are offered for purchase after both Sunday services. Thanks to those who have been supporting this ministry to assist in keeping the Food Pantry shelves full. Any card you purchase is good for the full value you pay for the card. A portion of the money you spend is returned to the parish by the vendor - so when you purchase a card you are making a donation that costs you nothing.
The Summer Video Program for our youngest members is offered during the first part of the 10 o'clock service in June, July and August. A DVD and instructions will be provided. Thanks to all who volunteered to extend the gift of hospitality to our children. We still need volunteers for August 15 and 28. The volunteers bring the children to the church at the Peace to join their families for communion. You will find a sign up sheet on the bulletin board located as you enter the church.
The Divine Delights Freezer Sale is Saturday, November 20. Cooking has begun as we prepare for this fund raising project that helps to support our outreach ministries budget. It takes a lot of organization on the part of Elaine Lovelace, the buyers and lead cooks to make this Freezer Sale the success it has become. On Saturdays preparations are being made for the items to be sold. Lead cooks have preparations and ingredients down to a fine science. Volunteers will find a task suitable to their abilities and willingness to help. Come join the preparations on Saturdays at 9 AM with lots of help the tasks are completed before noon.
Vacation Bible School begins on Sunday, July 18 through Thursday, July 22. Thanks to Holly Kahley, Chris Kahley and those who have worked to assist in organizing a High Seas Expedition. Sneak a peak on Sunday at the BIG SHIP in the Parish Hall on which the children will travel. It is going to be a fabulous week long Bible adventure for our children.
Please remember during the summer months when you are on vacation or decide to sleep in on Sunday that operation of your parish continues. Making prompt pledge payments or sending your pledge for times when you are away assists us to meet our obligations for utilities, venders, Vacation Bible School supplies, etc. on time. Payments may be mailed to 140 North Beaver St., York, PA 17401. Thanks to all who strive to keep their pledge current.
As another means to communicate what is going on in the life of the parish and to give parishioners another avenue for communicating with each other, St. John's has started a Facebook page. It can be seen by going to the following link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Episcopal-Church-of-St-John-The-Baptist-York-PA/115637618455720. Upcoming activities will be posted. Lots of church activity photos will be able to be accessed. The best thing is that anyone who joins the site can then post information about what is going on at St. John's. Facebook opens a whole new method of communicating news about our parish family. To sign up, go to the church Facebook page and select the Sign Up link at the top. You will become a fan of the page. If you are not Facebook member already, you will need to sign up to make posts to the St. John's Facebook page. If you just want to view updates, you don't have to sign up for Facebook. Any questions, please contact Dean Kimball, Tom Russell or any other member of the Communications Committee. As we strive to communicate in the best ways possible, we hope parishioners will take advantage of this means to communicate with each other and the parish at large.
Hope to see you Sunday in Church!
