Freezer Sale: (click here for flier on event)
2010 represented the 8th straight year that we have had
a freezer sale. It was actually the 9th sale! We had
two
freezer sales that very first year.
We raised $2,000 from the first sale and we use
that amount as seed money to begin each year's sale.
Our first freezers were salvaged second hand ones.
Since, we have had several new freezers donated.
Currently, we have 7 working freezers. This past year,
we lost one of the original
freezers and a parishioner donated a brand new
freezer to replace it.
This year we cleared $10,000 after expenses. This was
possible in large part because of the generosity of many
people who contributed goods and packaging expenses up
front and we are
thankful
to those
generous folk.
One parishioner who is
not involved in the
freezer sale preparations came to buy, hung
around eating our bake sale offerings and
watching the workings of sale day.
She later reported that seeing our workers make
the day look so effortless, and watching them have fun
working together so respectfully made her proud
to be a member of our parish.
